For over 100 years, veterans have had a right to external appeal to seek review of decisions relating to entitlements and assessment of war pensions. The VRB has existed in its current form since 1985.
We finalise around 3,000 cases a year, across Australia.
We can only hear cases when a law gives us this authority.
The law that establishes the VRB and governs our operations is the Veterans Entitlements Act 1986 (the VEA).
